GOLDEGG STUDIO EXPERIENCE
June 18-22, 2018
This five-day workshop will delve into various methods of applying paint and will explore color in the surrounding landscape of Goldegg. We will work to understand and perceive color accurately and learn to mix pigments to achieve those colors. We will also look at the drawn line in painting as a way to significantly define, divide, and energize composition and form. The participants are encouraged to work in oil, but water based materials will be permitted as well.
Goldegg Art Academy
The Goldegg Painting Academy (or Malakademie) is housed in the Goldegg Castle, built in the 14th century. Every summer a wide range of painting, drawing and photography courses are offered at Malakademie for a wide range of experience levels, from artists just beginning to advanced students.
The castle is situated on the rocky North bank of Goldegger Lake. We will work in two bright and well-equipped studio rooms; a café with an outdoor terrace adds extra charm. Students will be free to explore the rest of the castle and visit the charming folkloric museum on the top floor. In addition to serving as the home of the vibrant Malakademie, the castle has become a well-known cultural center, offering a unique setting for meetings, seminars and cultural events
Located at 825 meters above sea level, Goldegg Castle is blessed with a lovely mountain panorama. Just at the foot of the castle lies Goldegger Lake, a natural moorland lake that reflects the surrounding landscape in ever-changing light. The art academy provides a stimulating blend of nature and culture and is a perfect backdrop for creative reflection.
The Town and Countryside
The idyllic village of Goldegg am See is located on a sunny mountain plateau, high over the Salzach valley (about an hour away from Salzburg). Apart from the lovely castle, Goldegg has much to offer. You can go for a swim in the moorland lake, which is exceptionally clean and even good for the skin due to its high concentration of natural minerals, and there’s another pristine mountain lake just a few kilometers away. You will also find numerous hiking paths, traditional alpine huts at the end of the trails, an 18-hole golf course, cycling possibilities, electric bicycles) and lovely spots to simply sit down and relax.
Course Information
The course will begin on Sunday evening at 6:30 pm with an informal meeting and dinner together.
Course times are Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.
